The 2022 AISA Global Issues Service Summit (AISA-GISS) hosted by the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA), in collaboration with the American International School of Cape Town (AISCT), will take place on Thursday 03 February and Friday 04 February 2022.

Over the years, AISA-GISS has been run as a 3-day, onsite, service learning event hosted by an AISA member school where student delegates are motivated to discuss and explore how to solve local community issues and global prevailing challenges. Students are encouraged to present and learn from positive stories of community engagements and student-led service projects. In a typical year, attendees would also spend time working together on hands-on projects within the host school’s local community.

We, the community of AISCT, are hosting the Global Issues Service Summit (GISS), a project aimed at advancing the promise of equality, justice, and dignity throughout Africa. The theme for this year’s conference is Ukutsiba Phambili, the Xhosa phrase for “leaping forward”, which is particularly pertinent during this time of recovery from the pandemic. The pandemic has been a journey, to say the least, and we believe we have to keep going with resilience, moving mindsets onward.

We welcome students from across the continent to lead sessions and/or highlight any service projects they have been working on in their local communities!

If you would like to share a service project presentation to be included in the student showcase page, please reach out to our team at aisa_giss@aisct.org
