Kyle Quint

Over the last 12 years, Kyle Quint has become well known in Tanzania for his ability to make his beautiful and purposeful designs come to life.  Whether he is creating furniture, designing interior spaces, constructing buildings or directing the art for films, Kyle’s projects are all carried out in the spirit of his design philosophy:

“Using socially responsible practices and reclaimed or environmentally conscious materials to make new objects and spaces embodied with a story of their own creation.”

With every design, Kyle’s first natural instinct is to consider what existing material can be reclaimed, repurposed or found on site that can not only fit the requirements, but also add its own history or sense of place to the overall impact of the final creation. His second focus is on identifying local artisans who can shape the piece or project with their hands and minds and personally or professionally benefit from their work.

Kyle has said that “One of the greatest lessons that Tanzania has taught me is how vital it is that the funds and knowledge used for a product or project are distributed within the community in which it is produced.”

While many people see Kyle’s work without knowing the context in which it was created, he believes that people can sense it, and he considers that to be why he has been so successful.
