Jebra Kambole

Jebra Kambole, age 27, is an Advocate at the High Court of Tanzania and subordinate courts thereto. He is the Co-Founder and head of litigation of Law Guards Advocates, a multifaceted legal firm based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He founded Haki Tanzania Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization that provides Human Rights and legal education for the community. He also assists less privileged people to pursue their cases and acquire their rights before the courts of law.

He participates in educating the public through Media on the local and international laws, human rights, good governance and politics. These include being hosted by Star TV Tanzania, EATV, Clouds FM, EA Radio, Radio Free Africa, and others on a variety of occasion and a variety of issues. He also has a weekly Thursday column on the Mwananchi News Paper known as ‘Uwanja Wa Kambole’ since May 2014. He has written more than 50 published articles.

He believes that if Tanzania is to develop, it must be from the grassroots by empowering the community by putting the right information in their hands. He strongly believes that each society needs to be informed of their rights, their responsibilities as citizens, and the progress of their nation. As said by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.”

At the moment, he is currently challenging the government in the constitutionality of the Cyber Crime Act No. 14 of 2015 in civil case No. 32 (2015).
