Haika Mawalla

Haika Mawalla joined CCBRT in 2007 as Assistant to the CEO, where she had a key role overseeing the signing of a Public-Private Partnership between CCBRT and the Government of Tanzania. In 2009, after being promoted to Deputy CEO, Haika was tasked with building up CCBRT’s operational units (HR, ICT, and Procurement & Facility Management) to strengthen the effective and efficient delivery of services at a growing CCBRT.

As Deputy CEO, Haika plays a leading role in developing the strategic direction of CCBRT and raising the organisation’s profile. She manages the newly-established External Affairs Department, overseeing programme development, communications, partnerships and CCBRT’s relationship with its US funding arm, Kupona Foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law & Politics from the University of Notre Dame (Australia) and a Master’s Degree in Health Management from the University of Leeds (UK). Additionally, Haika worked in 2006 at the International Criminal Tribunal supporting the protection of victims and witnesses affected by the Rwandan genocide.
