Dr. Lwidiko Edward Mhamilawa

Dr. Lwidiko Edward Mhamilawa, is a Medical Doctor and a tutor at Muhimbili University of Health Allied Sciences – Parasitology and Medical Entomology School of Public Health,and on a part time basis, he has  been working with the Ministry of Health under the Emergency Operations Center in combating the current Cholera Outbreak in Tanzania under WHO Support. Has  extensive experience working with youth for more than 5 years  from rural areas of Tanzania to youth from all over the globe, from South Korea to Ghana to Switzerland. The working areas include capacity building for young leaders, creating forums for young people’s voices to be heard in the government and UN Initiatives. .

Dr. Mhamilawa has passion for social change, he Co-Founded and is the Executive Director of  ProjeKt Inspire (PI) Ltd – a social enterprise focusing on career counseling and life skills development for youth. As a medical doctor, he supervises the Inspire Health portal under ProjeKt Inspire that runs community outreach health checkups in non-communicable diseases and inspires youth into pursuing healthcare related careers. He has conducted medical researches such as the importance of first aid training in educational institutions and he is currently working on synchronizing first aid training with local schools with a vision of creating a chain of primary healthcare clinics in Tanzania. Recently under Inspire STEM ( Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics)  ProjeKt Inspire  conducted the 1st STEM Youth Boot CAMP in Partnership with Neslon Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Arusha with more than 50 secondary school students in attendance.

Currently he belongs to the Global Shapers Community – Dar HUB, previously he was the National President of Youth of United Nations Association (YUNA-Tz) 2012 -2014, through which he worked with  UNFPA,UNESCO, WHO, Livelihood Basix Incorporation (India), under the African Livelihood Partnership Program (ALP). He is a Model UN (MUNer) by heart, and a Finalist of the Tanzania Young Professionals Award – Trail Blazer Category.
