Bahati Mgunda

Coach Bahati Mgunda has an advanced diploma in Teaching Training and Assessing Learning. In the field of sports, he has a coaching diploma specializing in Basketball at the Semmelweis University Institute of Coaching and Sports Education in Hungary, 2003, an International Coaching Diploma specialized in Sports for Disabled from Leipzig University in Germany, 2005, and an Exercise and Physiology Diploma from Stone Bridge Associates Colleges in the United Kingdom, 2009.

He has coached and played basketball most of his life. He has coached both boys and girls at the secondary school level and the Vijana Basketball Club since 2001. Since 2006, he has coached the men’s national basketball team. He strongly believes in the ability of athletics and sports to bring all types of people together. In that spirit, in 2003, he founded Mambos Basketball, a registered sports entity which runs and conducts basketball camps across Tanzania.

He now manages Tanzania Jr. NBA League, which is part of a worldwide NBA program that bring basketball to youth from across Tanzania, Africa, and the world.

He lives in Dar es Salaam, married to his wife Chezo and his two children Iverson, 12, and Imani, 8. They both play basketball competitively.
