Student Changemaker

THE STUDENT CHANGE MAKER & HUMANITARIAN ACTIVIST:

Although born in a small town, she moved to Dar es Salaam in 2010 and was actively involved within her community.
At the age of 13 she organized and conducted a 10 day workshop for children, joined the Development Society that had various projects such as building wells in remote areas where water is scarce and is a leader of the CAS group that collaborates with the Mtoni special needs school.

She has been a member of the Children’s Birthday Miracles (CBM) that throws surprise birthdays for orphans and homeless children who don’t have the chance to celebrate their special day.

She was a part of the ‘Zumbathon’ charity event last year that successfully raised funds to treat children with Cancer at the Muhimbili Hospital and has worked directly with the burnt children at Muhimbili, providing medical facilities to aid their recovery under the ‘Blessing Bags for the Burnt’ project.

Currently, she is campaigning for the installation of the solar ‘liter of light’ in Tanzania; It is a cheap zero carbon-emitting source and is cost free for families who cannot afford electricity. She has installed it in a house in Dar es Salaam (Kariakoo) and looks forward to taking it to the Nyaragusu refugee camp soon.

She has collaborated with both UNHCR and UKAID in attempts to understand and engage towards the refugee crisis in Tanzania. After presenting fruitful proposals that could be implemented to better the lives of the refugees, she has been offered a visit by UNHCR to the refugee camp.

In her spare time, she writes poetry and has published three novels on an online Canadian reading site, she enjoys playing badminton and simply serving humanity in whatever forms possible.
